About Janautthan Samudayic Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (JSLBSL)
Introduction
Janautthan Samudayic Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (JSLBSL) is a national-level Class 'D' microfinance institution licensed and regulated by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The institution was established to expand financial inclusion by delivering accessible, responsible, and sustainable financial services to rural, marginalized, and underserved communities across Nepal.
JSLBSL was incorporated on 10 April 2010 under the Companies Act, 2063 and officially commenced banking operations on 14 November 2010 under the Bank and Financial Institution Act. Originally established as Jana Utthan Samudayic Bikash Bank, the institution was later renamed Janautthan Samudayic Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited in accordance with the regulatory directives of Nepal Rastra Bank for microfinance institutions.
Since its inception, the institution has remained committed to building an inclusive financial system that empowers economically disadvantaged communities through responsible microfinance services, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood development.
Our Background
The establishment of Janautthan Samudayic Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was inspired by the need to bridge the financial gap between urban financial institutions and rural communities that have traditionally lacked access to formal banking services.
Although Nepal's banking sector has expanded over the years, many rural households have remained financially excluded due to limited institutional outreach. Recognizing this challenge, Jana Utthan Pratisthan initiated a community banking model inspired by the research "Social Inclusion in Microfinance" (2010) by Dr. Man Bahadur BK.
This vision introduced innovative community-based financial approaches, including a credit-first individual intervention model, designed to improve financial inclusion at the grassroots level while creating sustainable economic opportunities for underserved populations.
Today, JSLBSL continues this mission by providing inclusive financial services that support entrepreneurship, self-employment, income generation, and long-term community development.
Our Mission
Building an inclusive financial system by extending responsible and sustainable financial services to the poorest, marginalized, and financially excluded communities of Nepal while promoting entrepreneurship, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods.
