Introduction
First Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (First Microfinance) is a national-level wholesale lending microfinance institution licensed by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The institution officially commenced operations on 8 January 2010 (24 Poush 2066 B.S.) with the objective of expanding financial inclusion by strengthening Nepal's microfinance ecosystem.
Unlike retail microfinance institutions that directly serve individual borrowers, First Microfinance primarily provides wholesale financial support to microfinance institutions (MFIs), including community-based cooperatives, enabling them to extend financial services to economically and socially disadvantaged communities across Nepal.
Through its wholesale lending model, First Microfinance contributes to expanding access to responsible finance for low-income households, rural entrepreneurs, women, and underserved populations while supporting the sustainable growth of Nepal's microfinance sector.
