The Foundation works to improve financial health and economic inclusion, particularly for low- and moderate-income individuals and families. By partnering with nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, and local communities, the Foundation develops innovative financial health solutions that promote economic opportunity, resilience, and sustainable development.
In addition to financial support, MetLife employees actively contribute through volunteer initiatives that strengthen community impact and social development.
Today, the Foundation's financial health programs have reached more than 13.4 million low- and moderate-income people across 42 countries, helping individuals build stronger financial futures.
Supporting Communities in Nepal
MetLife Foundation has contributed to several initiatives that support vulnerable communities in Nepal through healthcare, livelihood recovery, and community resilience programs.
In 2021, MetLife Foundation provided US$50,000 to the America Nepal Medical Foundation (ANMF) to support essential healthcare services during Nepal's second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funding helped supply critical medical equipment to healthcare facilities and isolation centers across Nepal, including:
Oxygen concentrators
High-flow oxygen systems
Other essential medical equipment
These resources strengthened healthcare capacity and improved access to life-saving treatment for vulnerable populations.
MetLife Foundation also awarded a US$44,000 grant to Plan International Nepal to help communities affected by COVID-19.
The program focused on vulnerable farming households in Banke District, supporting families that had lost their primary sources of income by providing:
Seeds for quick-growing cash crops
Vegetable seeds
Fertilizers
Traditional farming tools
These initiatives helped families restore agricultural production, improve household food security, and rebuild sustainable livelihoods.
Global Commitment to COVID-19 Relief
As part of its worldwide response to the pandemic, MetLife Foundation committed US$25 million to support communities affected by COVID-19 across regions where MetLife operates.
This global funding supported both immediate humanitarian relief and long-term community recovery, helping strengthen health systems, improve economic resilience, and assist vulnerable populations during and after the pandemic.
