Our History
The foundation of Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited originated from the vision of Gramin Mahila Utthan Kendra (Rural Women Development Center – RWDC), a non-governmental organization established to promote the social and economic development of rural women through literacy, income generation, and empowerment initiatives.
As the promoter organization, RWDC obtained a license from Nepal Rastra Bank in 2060 B.S. (2004 A.D.) to operate as a financial intermediary institution. Through this initiative, the organization mobilized women's savings groups and provided microloans to economically disadvantaged households using group-based collateral mechanisms.
Following the establishment of Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and its recognition as a Class 'D' microfinance institution by Nepal Rastra Bank, the microfinance operations were formally transferred from RWDC in 2019 (2075 B.S.). Since then, the institution has operated independently as a dedicated microfinance service provider, continuing its mission of supporting rural communities through inclusive financial services.
