Kathmandu: NMB Bank Ltd., recognized as the Bank of the Year – Asia 2021, has announced a new job vacancy for the position of Environmental & Social (E&S) Officer – Junior Officer/Officer. The bank is seeking qualified and dynamic professionals to strengthen its Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) and support sustainable banking practices.
According to the vacancy notice, the selected candidate will work closely with NMB Bank’s dedicated Environmental and Social (E&S) Team, business units, and clients to ensure effective implementation of the bank’s environmental and social risk policies, including Nepal Rastra Bank’s Environmental and Social Risk Management Guidelines.
The E&S Officer will be responsible for:
Conducting E&S reviews, due diligence, and site visits for hydropower and other financed projects.
Supporting credit proposals with E&S requirements and providing troubleshooting and technical guidance.
Advising E&S covenants for clients and contractors and coordinating with legal and business teams.
Monitoring compliance with E&S policies, regulatory needs, and corrective action plans.
Managing and resolving E&S-related grievances in coordination with stakeholders.
Enhancing clients’ E&S awareness and contributing to portfolio monitoring.
Preparing and ensuring timely submission of E&S disclosures.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
3–5 years of professional experience in E&S risk management, especially in the hydropower sector.
Strong understanding of IFC Performance Standards, EPA, EPR, Labour Act, and NRB’s E&S guidelines.
Knowledge of Hydropower Sustainability Standards is an added advantage.
Strong English communication and reporting skills.
Age requirement: 21–40 years as of the application deadline.
