About Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (DLBSL)

Introduction

Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. (DLBSL) is a national-level Class 'D' microfinance institution licensed by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal. The institution was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on 3 July 2018 under the Companies Act, 2063 and received its operating license from Nepal Rastra Bank on 19 February 2019.

The corporate head office is located at Baglung Municipality–2, Shreenagar Tole, Baglung, Nepal. DLBSL was established with the objective of expanding access to formal financial services for rural, unbanked, and underserved communities while contributing to poverty reduction through increased production, productivity, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic development.

The institution provides responsible and inclusive microfinance services that empower low-income households, women, small farmers, and rural entrepreneurs to improve their livelihoods through financial inclusion and income-generating opportunities.

Our Background

The foundation of Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. can be traced to the Dhaulagiri Community Resource Development Center (DCRDC), which launched its Savings and Credit (Microfinance) Program in 2054 B.S. in partnership with the Micro Credit Project for Women (MCPW).

Following the completion of the project, DCRDC continued the microfinance program in response to strong community demand and the positive socio-economic impact it had on poor, landless, and disadvantaged households. In 2058 B.S., DCRDC obtained a Financial Intermediary License from Nepal Rastra Bank and secured financial support from the Rural Microfinance Development Centre (RMDC) to expand its microfinance services.

In addition to providing savings and credit services, DCRDC implemented complementary community development initiatives, including livelihood improvement, entrepreneurship development, and capacity-building programs. In collaboration with the Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP), Myagdi, and with support from UNDP, the organization also conducted entrepreneurial and skills development training to strengthen clients' income-generating capacity.

Building on this strong foundation and years of community experience, Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. was established as an independent national-level microfinance institution to continue promoting financial inclusion and sustainable rural development.
