Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has doubled the maximum loan amount that can be disbursed through digital channels, increasing the limit to Rs. 1 million for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
Under the new directive issued on Monday, banks and financial institutions can provide transaction-based digital loans of up to Rs. 1 million for long-term working capital needs. Previously, the limit was Rs. 500,000 for salary account holders and Rs. 200,000 for other borrowers.
The revision follows the provisions announced in the Monetary Policy for FY 2082/83, aimed at improving access to finance and promoting digital lending for MSMEs across Nepal.
