Nepal Rastra Bank’s Currency Management Department has announced the circulation of new Rs. 50 denomination banknotes featuring the existing size and design, with specified security features. The banknotes will be brought into circulation from Ashoj 2, 2083.
The new notes carry a guarantee statement mentioning the Government of Nepal and Nepal Rastra Bank, along with the denomination “50” and other security features. The front side includes the image of Mount Everest, while the reverse side features the red panda. The notes also contain a 1.2 mm wide security thread that appears fully visible when viewed against light and bears the letters “NRB.”
The new banknotes bear the signature of Governor Dr. Bishwanath Poudel. The reverse side includes the text “NEPAL RASTRA BANK”, while “RUPEES FIFTY” and the serial number “2025 A.D.” are printed in the lower section.
Nepal Rastra Bank has stated that the new Rs. 50 notes will be circulated as legal tender alongside the existing notes. The bank has also clarified the applicable serial-number range for the notes being brought into circulation.
