Nepal Rastra Bank Urges Public to Strengthen Digital Financial Security

As digital banking, mobile banking, QR payments, and digital wallets become part of everyday life, the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has encouraged the public to adopt stronger digital financial security practices. While digital services offer convenience, speed, and easy access to financial transactions, they also expose users to increasing cyber risks.

NRB advises users to protect their usernames, passwords, PINs, and OTPs by using strong and unique passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication, using only official banking apps and websites, updating passwords regularly, and avoiding suspicious apps, public Wi-Fi, and screen sharing during financial transactions.

The central bank also warns that cybercriminals commonly steal passwords through fake websites, phishing attacks, password guessing, cracking, and credential stuffing. NRB has urged everyone to improve their digital literacy and practice responsible online habits to keep their financial information safe in today's digital world.
