Kathmandu: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has announced the circulation of newly printed Rs. 500 banknotes starting from Ashar 3, 2083 (Nepali calendar). The new notes will retain the existing size, color, and overall design while incorporating updated features and signatures.
According to the central bank, the banknotes will carry the signature of the current Governor and include standard security features to ensure authenticity. The front side of the note features Mount Everest and other identifying elements, while the reverse side includes an image of a yak along with the inscription “NEPAL RASTRA BANK.”
NRB stated that the new Rs. 500 notes will circulate alongside the existing notes already in use. The issuance is part of the bank’s regular currency management process and aims to ensure a smooth supply of quality banknotes across the country.
The central bank has advised the public to remain informed about the note’s security features and continue using all legally circulated banknotes without concern.
