The Nepal Rastra Bank has announced a nationwide implementation of a two-day public holiday system for all licensed “A”, “B”, “C”, and “D” class banks and financial institutions, including infrastructure development banks and Nepal Clearing House Limited.
As per the new provision, effective from Chaitra 23, 2082, both Saturdays and Sundays will be observed as public holidays.
The central bank has also revised office hours. From Monday to Friday, offices will operate from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, during the winter period (Kartik 16 to Magh 15), office hours will be from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The directive has been issued under Section 79 of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058.
