Nepal Rastra Bank Releases Holiday Schedule and Revised Operating Hours for 2083 -

The Human Resource Management Department of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has officially published the approved list of holidays and operational hours effective from April 14, 2026, through April 13, 2027. Under this new schedule, the bank will maintain standard office hours from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Sunday to Thursday) during the peak periods of mid-April to November and late January to mid-April. However, a winter schedule will be observed from November 2, 2026, to January 29, 2027, during which office hours will be shortened to 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Throughout the entire year, every Friday is designated as a half-holiday, with office operations concluding at 1:30 PM.

Banking service hours are specifically tailored to ensure public access while accommodating administrative requirements. Standard banking hours for Sunday through Thursday are set from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, decreasing to 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM during the winter months. On Fridays, banking services will be available from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM. While every Saturday remains a full holiday, the bank has committed to maintaining essential functions such as cash payments, Electronic Check Clearing (ECC), RTGS, and monetary management during designated banking hours, even on other government-declared public holidays.

The holiday calendar features major national observances, including extended breaks for Dashain from October 17 to October 23, 2026, and Tihar from November 8 to November 12, 2026. Regional and community-specific holidays are also noted, such as Gai Jatra and Indra Jatra for the Kathmandu Valley and the Newar community, as well as specific leaves for female employees during Haritalika Teej and Jitiya Parwa. Provincial offices are granted the flexibility to remain closed for up to six additional days based on local government declarations.
