Nepal Rastra Bank has issued a directive, effective from the fiscal year 2079, stating that banks and financial institutions should not open more than one account in the name of a natural person in Nepalese currency, except for a few cases. Also, banks are not allowed to issue more than one type of card (debit/credit) in the name of an individual.
Customers who have multiple accounts and cards are requested to visit the nearest branch office by Jestha 15, 2080, to close or maintain only one account and card as per the bank's decision to avoid any inconvenience in the future. Furthermore, the bank can close accounts that have been inactive for ten years.
