Kathmandu – Industrialists in Nepal are optimistic about the economy's recovery. Speaking at an event honoring the newly elected committee of the Economic Media Association of Nepal (EMAN), officials from the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) shared positive developments.
CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agarwal pointed out that political attention to the economy has increased, with recent legal reforms through ordinances serving as an example of urgency. He emphasized that all political parties, whether in power or opposition, must prioritize economic concerns.
Agarwal acknowledged that while foreign exchange reserves and capital in banks are growing, non-performing loans remain a challenge. However, recent data from the National Statistics Office shows signs of recovery, bolstered by legal reforms and private sector involvement.
"The government’s reforms have shown progress, but further legal changes are needed for long-term stability," he said. He added that the improvement of the economy benefits both the private sector and the nation as a whole.
CNI’s establishment of a 'Research Cell' ensures that their policy suggestions are data-driven and credible. Agarwal also expressed concern over laws that penalize industrialists and called for reforms to encourage constructive change.
Senior Vice President Birendra Raj Pandey noted that, while more work is needed, the economy is on the right track. The event also featured discussions between CNI and EMAN on collaborating to provide policy suggestions and address the challenges facing industrialists. EMAN President Royal Acharya reaffirmed the association’s readiness to support economic revival efforts.
