Kathmandu Metropolitan City Issues Strict Guidelines for Business Owners on Price and Quality Compliance

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has issued an urgent notice to all retail and wholesale business owners within its jurisdiction, outlining essential guidelines for the sale and distribution of goods and services. The notice mandates that all businesses must display a visible price list at the front of their shops, ensuring transparency for customers. It also strictly prohibits selling goods above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) indicated on products.

Furthermore, only items with valid expiration dates are to be sold, and businesses are required to maintain the quality, purity, and hygiene of food, beverages, and other products.

The city authorities have warned that any violations discovered during inspections or through complaints will result in legal action. Consumers are also encouraged to check product quality and pricing before making purchases to ensure they receive clean and affordable items. For any issues or to file complaints, the public is advised to contact the authorities via the hotline number 1180.
