On the occasion of the 79th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, a flag hoisting ceremony was held today at the Office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia, located at the IME Complex.
Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Nepal and Chairman of the IME Group, raised the red and white flag this morning to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Indonesia's independence.
Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Nepal were established in 1960, and since then, the relationship between the two countries has remained consistently cordial. The Office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia has played a significant role in further strengthening these ties, especially since the appointment of Mr. Dhakal as Honorary Consul. The bond between the two nations has been bolstered by increasing people-to-people connections, enhanced engagements, more frequent exchange of visits, and a growing number of events and promotional activities. These efforts have led to a rise in trade volumes and values, as well as an increase in tourist visits.
Indonesia is emerging as a major market globally and is also the largest economy in ASEAN. The trade volume between Indonesia and Nepal is substantial, with Indonesia being one of Nepal’s largest trading partners. Both countries, rich in natural and cultural heritage, see great potential in tourism as a significant business opportunity.
