In a bid to fortify trade and investment cooperation, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, underscored the significance of harnessing the bilateral relationship between Nepal and Russia.
During a recent meeting at the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry secretariat, Dhakal emphasized the need for Nepal to capitalize on its longstanding ties with Russia. The meeting, held between the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of the Russian Federation, saw the participation of Sergei Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industries, leading a delegation.
Reflecting on the history of bilateral cooperation, Dhakal highlighted the 13-year journey since the formalization of relations between the two chambers in 2011. He expressed optimism that the meeting would further bolster trade and investment relations between Nepal and Russia, potentially paving the way for economic growth and development for both nations.
Dhakal pointed out Nepal's vast untapped investment potential across various sectors and informed the Russian delegation about recent amendments in laws and regulations aimed at enhancing the investment climate. He also stressed the importance of exploring opportunities in sectors such as tourism, agro-processing, hydropower, ICT, and manufacturing.
Sergei Katyrin reciprocated the enthusiasm, affirming Russian investors' keen interest in Nepal. He pledged to disseminate information about investment opportunities in Nepal among Russian business circles and facilitate Nepali exports to the Russian market.
The meeting also featured presentations from the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Saint-Petersburg and the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of the Lipetsk region. Gokarna Awasthi, Director General of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, outlined initiatives aimed at improving Nepal's business climate.
Expressing gratitude, Dhakal extended an invitation to Russian investors to participate in the upcoming Nepal Investment Summit scheduled for April 28 and 29, acknowledging their vital role in Nepal's economic growth trajectory.
