Kathmandu: In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the banking sector in Nepal, Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, the CEO of Nabil Bank, has been awarded the prestigious Prabal Jana Sewa Shree medal. The award was presented to Dhungana on the occasion of Constitution Day 2079 and was distributed in the New Year of 2080.
The 'Prabal Jana Sewa Shree' medal is given to Nepali citizens who have made significant contributions to the welfare of Nepal or have excelled in any field of national life. President Ramchandra Paudel presented the medal to Dhungana, acknowledging his long-standing contribution to the banking sector.
Dhungana has over 25 years of experience in management and leadership roles in the banking sector. He has been leading Nabil Bank as the CEO since 2079 Ashadh after the merger of Nabil Bank with the then Nepal Bangladesh Bank. Prior to that, he served as the CEO of Nepal Bangladesh Bank for 10 years. Dhungana has also served as the President of the Nepal Bankers Association in 2018 and has worked as a director of Nepal Rastra Bank and as a general manager of Nepal Credit and Commerce Bank.
Dhungana's academic achievements include completing studies in Chartered Accountancy (CA) in India, Certificate Public Accountant (CPA) from Australia, and a Master's in Financial Analysis. He has received several accolades for his outstanding performance, including the Manager to Watch award by the Nepal Management Association in 2013 and the Manager of the Year award in 2015.
Dhungana expressed his gratitude for the recognition and dedicated the award to the entire team of Nabil Bank for their hard work and dedication. He also expressed his commitment to continue working towards the growth and development of the banking sector in Nepal.
