NEPSE Index Falls by 27.64 Points as Majority of Stocks Decline

Kathmandu, Nov 4 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index witnessed a notable decline on Monday, dropping by 27.64 points or 1.05% to close at 2,595.24 points. The market experienced broad-based weakness, with 213 companies’ shares declining, while only 33 advanced and 3 remained unchanged.

The day’s total turnover stood at Rs. 5.15 billion, with 10.34 million shares traded across various sectors.

Among the top gainers, Mabilung Energy Limited (MABEL) surged by 9.98% to close at Rs. 349.40, followed by First Microfinance Laghubitta (FMDBL) gaining 9.20%, and Bindhyabasini Hydropower Development Company Limited (BHDC) rising by 6.38%. Similarly, SMPDA and Aviyan Laghubitta (AVYAN) posted gains of 5.54% and 5.01%, respectively.

In terms of turnover, NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) led the market with a transaction value of Rs. 270.09 million, followed by Radhi Hydropower (RADHI) with Rs. 224.66 million, and United Hydro Power (UNHPL) with Rs. 187.69 million. Other notable turnovers came from SHEL and SHIVM.

Market sentiment remained cautious throughout the trading session, with the index trending downward after midday and closing near the session’s low.
