The merged company officially commenced its joint operations on May 10, 2023, combining the strengths, expertise, operational excellence, and market presence of both organizations to create a stronger and more resilient insurance company capable of delivering greater value to customers and stakeholders.
A Strong Legacy Built Through Strategic Merger
Before the merger, IME General Insurance Limited had been serving Nepal's insurance market since February 1, 2001, with a paid-up capital of NPR 1,803.751 million. Prudential Insurance Company Limited commenced operations on June 20, 2002, following its registration with the Office of the Company Registrar and approval from the then Controller of Insurance, with a paid-up capital of NPR 1,225.58 million.
The successful integration of these two established insurers created IGI Prudential Insurance Limited, strengthening the company's financial capacity, operational efficiency, and market presence while expanding its product portfolio and service capabilities.
Today, the company has a paid-up capital of NPR 3,029.33 million, the highest among general insurance companies in Nepal, providing a strong financial foundation to support sustainable growth and enhanced risk-bearing capacity.
