Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SLBSL) is a Class 'D' Microfinance Financial Institution licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) to provide inclusive and sustainable microfinance services across Nepal. The institution was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on 28 Ashadh 2070 B.S. under the Companies Act, 2063, with Registration No. 114029/069/070 at the Office of the Company Registrar, Kathmandu.

SLBSL received its operating license from Nepal Rastra Bank on 30 Chaitra 2070 B.S. (License No. 36/070/071) under the Bank and Financial Institutions Act (BAFIA), 2073 and officially commenced microfinance operations on 1 Shrawan 2071 B.S.

The institution's registered office is located at Sanga, Banepa Municipality–14, Kavrepalanchok, Nepal.

A Strong Foundation in Community Development

Before becoming a regulated microfinance institution, SLBSL operated as a microfinance program under the Women Development Center of Nepal (WDCN), a non-governmental organization that had been providing community-based microfinance services across six districts, including Kavrepalanchok.

Building upon WDCN's experience and with the support of multiple promoters, Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was established to expand access to formal financial services for underserved communities while operating under Nepal's regulated financial system.

Supporting Rural Entrepreneurship and Livelihoods

SLBSL is dedicated to improving the economic well-being of low-income households by providing small loans that support income-generating activities, particularly in rural and underserved areas where access to formal banking services remains limited.

The institution finances a wide range of livelihood and microenterprise activities, including:

• Dairy farming (buffalo keeping)

• Goat farming

• Pig farming

• Vegetable farming

• Agriculture-based businesses

• Small retail shops

• Wholesale trading

• Hotels and hospitality businesses

• Microenterprises and other local income-generating activities

Institutional Growth Through Merger

As part of its long-term growth strategy, Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited successfully merged with BPW Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, another Class 'D' Microfinance Financial Institution, with the merger becoming effective on 7 March 2024.

This strategic merger has strengthened the institution's operational capacity and expanded its ability to deliver quality financial services to more communities across Nepal.
