About Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited (NIMB)
Overview
Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited (NIMB) is one of Nepal's leading commercial banks, offering comprehensive, innovative, and customer-centric banking solutions to individuals, businesses, corporate clients, entrepreneurs, and institutions. With a legacy spanning nearly four decades, the bank combines financial strength, international banking expertise, and a commitment to innovation to support Nepal's economic growth and financial inclusion.
The bank traces its origins to Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL), which was established in 1986 as a joint venture between Nepalese investors and Crédit Agricole Indosuez, a subsidiary of one of the world's largest banking groups. Initially incorporated as Nepal Indosuez Bank Limited, the bank introduced international banking standards, modern management practices, and advanced financial services to Nepal's banking sector.
History
In 2002, a consortium of prominent Nepalese bankers, professionals, industrialists, and business leaders acquired the 50% equity stake held by Crédit Agricole Indosuez. Following the acquisition, the institution was renamed Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL), marking the beginning of a new era as a fully Nepalese-managed commercial bank.
For more than 36 years, Nepal Investment Bank Limited earned a strong reputation for financial stability, customer service, and banking excellence while continuously expanding its products, services, and nationwide presence.
In line with the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) policy encouraging consolidation within Nepal's banking industry, Nepal Investment Bank Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mega Bank Nepal Limited on June 10, 2022, to pursue a strategic merger.
Mega Bank Nepal Limited, established on July 23, 2010, had successfully completed 12 years of banking operations and had a paid-up capital of NPR 16.12 billion prior to the merger.
The two institutions officially commenced joint operations on January 11, 2023, under the unified name Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited (NIMB). The merger created a stronger, larger, and more resilient financial institution with enhanced operational capacity, broader customer reach, and expanded banking capabilities.
