Hyundai Motor Achieves Historic Milestone with 100 Million Vehicles Produced Globally

Kathmandu - Hyundai Motor Company has reached a monumental achievement by producing its 100 millionth vehicle globally, marking a significant moment in the automotive industry. This milestone was reached just 57 years after Hyundai was founded, making it one of the fastest-growing automakers in history. To commemorate this achievement, the company held a special ceremony at its Ulsan Plant in Korea.

During the event, Hyundai Motor delivered its 100 millionth vehicle, an IONIQ 5, directly to a customer. The vehicle was handed over in a symbolic ceremony at Ulsan’s shipping center, where the 100 millionth and first vehicle rolled off the line. This gesture represents Hyundai’s gratitude for the loyalty of its customers and its commitment to moving "one step further" beyond this historic milestone.

"This remarkable achievement was made possible thanks to the unwavering support of our customers worldwide," said Hyundai Motor representatives. "Our constant pursuit of innovation and bold challenges has driven our rapid growth, and it will continue to propel us toward our next 100 million vehicles as we transform the future of mobility."

Hyundai's Ulsan Plant, which began operations in 1968, is a cornerstone of the Korean automobile industry. The facility produced Korea’s first independent mass-produced vehicle, the Pony, in 1975, and today serves as a key hub for Hyundai’s electrification efforts. The company is also building a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) production facility at the Ulsan site, further solidifying its leadership in the global EV market.

Dong Seock Lee, President and Head of Domestic Productions and Chief Safety Officer at Hyundai Motor, acknowledged the efforts of Hyundai’s workforce, saying, "The production of 100 million vehicles is a testament to the dedication and hard work of every employee. This milestone marks just the beginning of our journey into the future of electrification, which Hyundai Motor is set to lead."

Hyundai Motor’s growth has been driven by the launch of new brands like Genesis and the high-performance N series, as well as its expansion into electric vehicles with models like the IONIQ 5, built on the company’s advanced electric global modular platform (E-GMP). With production plants in Turkey, India, the U.S., and the Czech Republic, Hyundai continues to expand its global footprint, having already surpassed 50 million vehicles produced by 2013.

Hyundai’s innovation strategy is further supported by the Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), established last year. This smart urban mobility hub is focused on integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and smart factory systems into future manufacturing plants, including Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA). Hyundai's forward-looking approach aims to maximize production efficiency and maintain its position as a leader in the global automotive industry.

With its eyes set on the future, Hyundai Motor continues to build on its success, setting the stage for even greater achievements in the years to come.
